The Hector Collectors are brothers (in the White Stripes sense) Adam and Iain Smith. An endearing shambles, making records that lurk somewhere around the territories of Moldy Peaches, BMX Bandits and Half Man Half Biscuit, it was unsurprising when the late John Peel championed several tracks from their "Straight Outta Comprehensive" debut long player on his BBC Radio 1 show. With more pop culture references in each song than a media studies seminar, The Hectors' world is a endless trawl for rare Herman's Hermits singles in Record Collector, swiftly followed by a discussion on antique computer games, inbetween imagining girls in your school as famous 20th century painters. No song is longer than two minutes, obviously.

The Hector Collectors - "Dollification EP"
7" single - STOLEN 003
Favourites of the late John Peel, founder Hectors Adam and Iain Smith drafted in Camera Obscura’s Gavin Dunbar and ex-Teenage Fanclub and Mogwai Brendan O’Hare on production for their most ambitious record to date. Steeped in pop culture, the Hector Collectors speed us through six tracks of nostalgia and wit, marrying perfect lo-fi pop tunes with a sprinkling of aspiration and romance. Compelling, endearing, and quite bizarre.
